What's This?

What is WordCamp?

WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress, the free and open source personal publishing software that powers over 25 million sites on the web.

What WordCamp includes?

WordCamps come in all different flavors, based on the local communities that produce them, but in general, WordCamps include sessions on how to use WordPress more effectively, beginning plugin and theme development, advanced techniques, security, etc. To get an idea of the types of sessions typically seen at WordCamps, check out the WordCamp channel at WordPress.tv.

Who attends WordCamp?

WordCamps are attended by people ranging from blogging newbies to professional WordPress developers and consultants, and usually combine scheduled programming with unconference sessions and other activities. For more information on common WordCamp elements, read about what to expect at a WordCamp.

The first WordCamp was organized in San Francisco by Matt Mullenweg in 2006. Since then, local communities around the world have organized over a hundred WordCamps, and they anticipate that number will pass a thousand within the next couple of years.

At Present

And Now WordCamp has arrived in Nepal

From occasional blogger to hardcore developers, If you love WordPress and really care about it, this is the best platform to share what you know, learn from other professionals and connect fellow WordPressers. Apart from that, if you feel you can improve this platform, WordCamp is an amazing place to share your idea and contribute the WordPress core.

How it is started?

Since there was no other way to meet WordPressers, a group of enthusiasts started a WordPress Nepal group in facebook. The first meetup was held in April 2011 and since then, meetups have been organized approximately once every month (Last sunday of the month). These meetups are small but very useful to help increase the knowledge, know how others are working and also to meet fellow WordPress lovers. The group has finally grown bigger and its high time to organize a bigger WordCamp in 2012. The group will be organizing meetups every month and WordCamps every year.

Want to share what you know about wordpress?, You’re always welcome
